Ocean Monitoring

A scenic beach view with palm trees, gentle waves, and a clear sky, featuring people relaxing and surfing along the shore.

SOCWA constantly monitors the coastline and ocean water of South Orange County to keep our beaches clear of health or environmental risks. To do so, samples are taken at least once per week weekly at monitoring stations both near the shore and at off-shore locations. Results are then reported to the County of Orange’s Health Care Agency.
